When considering herbicide treatment for the eradication of knotweed spraying is the first process that springs to mind. However another option available is stem injection. A measured amount of herbicide is injected straight in to the base of the stem allowing the herbicide to effectively attack the enzymes within the cells of the plant.
Stem injection benefits from being a more targeted approach. There is no chance of drift as with spraying destroying all and any foliage it comes in contact with. The higher concentration dosage reacts quicker. Injection is more time consuming and only really used as a targeted approach or in small areas but in the right circumstances it’s devastatingly effective.
