REMOVAL OF CONTAMINATED SOILS FROM RESIDENTIAL GARDENS & RE-LANDSCAPE

Challenge: Remove contaminated material from the garden areas of houses built upon a former town gas site. Reinstate existing landscaping.

Applied technology: Excavation and removal – backfill with clean material

Remediation criteria: Remove contaminated material to a risk assessed level.

Validation: Ongoing monitoring by consultants RPS Plc.

Specific requirement:– Minimum disruption to occupants of houses. Protect driveways and surrounding hard landscaping. Complete the works within a two week period to meet with financial year end date.

Soilutions Ltd. managed the excavation and removal of hydrocarbon contaminated material from the garden areas of residential dwellings built upon a former town gas site. Where possible all plants, trees and shrubs were saved for replanting and we replaced excavated material with imported top soil and reinstated hard and soft landscaping either as it was or to a specification agreed with the residents .

The Client was extremely happy with the quality and management of Soilutions activities and with the timing of the project. Residents commented that the inconvenience was less than anticipated and the landscaping had improved and enhanced their properties.
